Artist Statement
• I am a true believer that life is a journey, complete with intricate paths to explore and towering mountains to climb. My work reflects my journey – it is my journal of recorded memories, thoughts and experiences. Throughout, there is beautiful scenery to reward and remind me to keep going forward. Journeys aren’t always fun, but by choosing to turn my findings into art, I can enjoy the learning process. I hope to share with others what I feel and what I learn.
• Creativity has played a huge part in my every day. I have made my living as a graphic designer for many years, but while there can be satisfaction in that kind of a day job, I need to express myself in my free time. Freelancing has been a rewarding way to offer my visions to help others. I am able to provide a thoughtful, artistic approach to my work, keeping it original and unique for my clients.
• My artwork involves photography and sketches that I’ve done myself. My compositions often are collages of the two, digitally combined and manipulated to draw you into the final complex image. I haven’t had the luxury of traveling, so I use what surrounds me and whatever resources I have at the time. I love things aged... you’ll find a lot of old world symbolism throughout my work.
• It is very important for me to make my art accessible to all. It is my hope that people can use my work as a comforting tool, whether they’re going through a similar situation or just need to enjoy a thoughtful visual. There is a way to make talents and creativity affordable and available, and not discriminate because of cost or environment. My work consists of everyday objects and ideas. It is the details that I notice and appreciate. Life is in the details and the journey isn’t complete without them!
