I am on an experimental journey to rediscover my art practice after serving the design and non-profit arts sectors for over 20 years. Unbound by the confines of client-based work, Iām shifting to a place of manifesting myself through my art. My current art practice focuses on representing concepts of human behavior and emotions through process-based art, while investigating a multitude of materials, oftentimes sourcing nature. Constantly developing my practice of setting up structures and variables in the process to assist with making confident decisions during the uncomfortable and questionable moments, I am forever on a quest to truly understand what process means to my art practice. Materials and techniques used quite often in my work include book pages collaged as base layers, mark making with charcoal and graphite, paint to obscure and reveal moments, and found objects used as representational symbols. I experiment with materials, all with the focus of representing human behavior and emotions. Process has become the focus, as opposed to the ideal outcome. The process has kept me working intuitively and focusing on the materials and the moments. I wish to convey emotion and expression through form, color, and brushwork for the viewer to experience.
